The AEC has a three-person Commission comprising the Chairperson, who must be an active or retired judge of the Federal Court of Australia, the Electoral Commissioner and a non-judicial member. At 30 June the Commission was:

• The Hon Peter Heerey AM QC, Chairperson (part-time)
• Mr Ed Killesteyn PSM, Electoral Commissioner and the AEC’s Chief Executive Officer
• Mr Brian Pink, Australian Statistician, non-judicial member (part-time).
